Scholarship
in Honor of George Bell
Criteria:
The students eligible for assistance must be graduating high school seniors or currently enrolled in college. Consideration will be given to academic achievement, and the student’s community service record. Students should submit at least a 400 word essay on what volunteerism means to him or her and list any volunteering they have completed within the last 12 months. Eligible students will be between 17-22 years of age.
Guidelines:
Scholarships will be awarded on an annual basis and disbursed in one equal payment during the month of January to coincide with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr’s birthday. . Students must continue to attend classes and maintain no lower than a 2.5 grade-point average (or equivalent). They must also submit an essay containing at least 400 words with the heading topic of what volunteerism and service means to him or her and list any volunteering they have completed during the last year
Amount:
Each scholarship awarded will be $300.00 in total and will be disbursed as a onetime payment to the student.
Deadline:
The application deadline is the second Sunday in November. After this date NO applications will be accepted. The essays will only be delivered to the President or Vice President of the Men’s Ministry. The essays can be mailed however they will only be accepted if they are postmarked before the second Sunday in November.
Renewal process:
This scholarship is not renewable. Only graduating high school seniors enrolled in two year, four-year college or university or trade school are eligible to apply. Previous scholarship recipients cannot re-apply.
